Italy’s IMA group set for major line showcase at ProSweets

Italian-based IMA industry equipment group will use this year’s ProSweets event as a key platform to place a spotlight on its latest range of solutions for the chocolate, confectionery and snack markets, writes Neill Barston.

Supporting the world’s confectionery industry, the firm provides several high performance lines to address the most diverse processing and packaging requirements, and is keenly-awaiting its appearance at this year’s show in Cologne, Germany, between 28-31 January.

Designed to optimise each step of the process and ensure high-quality results regardless of the product, the machines can be stand-alone or fully integrated into complete lines. Flexible and customised wherever necessary to respond to specific requirements, these technologies are built to handle gums, candies, coated sweets, chocolate and bars.

Its extensive range includes tableting to coating; filling and capping to flow wrapping; cartoning, tray packing and wrapping. Moreover, the IMA end of line hub offers a comprehensive range of machines for overwrapping, stretch & shrink wrapping, forming, loading and closing, case packing, robotic handling and palletising. Not only a vast selection of machines, IMA has the most flexible answers for every stage of your process.

Visitors to this year’s show will be the first to discover the new IMA Gima DWM600 high-speed wrapping machine, processing stick packs that contain gum pellets, mints and pressed candies, wrapped and packed on edge. Both single and double-wrap packaging is possible. Flexibility also comes in the shape of the packaging material you wish to use. Its network of technological laboratories and testing facilities, known as IMAOpenLab, has conducted in-depth research into the most sustainable packaging materials and perfected the technologies needed to optimise the entire packaging process. The variety of materials, even the most innovative and highly sustainable versions, can now be implemented thanks to a specific sealing system.

The DWM600 is fully servo-driven with positive product transfer through all stages, and wraps up to 500 sticks per minute. It features a double reel for each wrapping material which can be replaced without
interrupting the production process, enhancing production efficiency and minimising downtime.
