World Confectionery Conference 2021 set to move online

The debut World Confectionery Conference marking key industry achievements is set to be migrated online for its inaugural event, which will be held on Tuesday, 1 June.

With business activity continuing to be affected by the global coronavirus pandemic, we have further evaluated conditions that have impacted on our original plans to host a physical event this October.

So, with the safety of all potential participants, visitors and exhibitors in mind, we will therefore be placing the event online this summer. Our in-person conference will gain its full rollout under more anticipated settled conditions in 2022.

The online format will comprise a full speaker programme and virtual exhibition area corresponding with our previous plans, featuring keynote speakers from across the industry, as well as offering significant networking opportunities.

As the sector continues to move forward amid challenging times, there will be a dynamic range of topical presentations themed around a core trend of sustainability. This will encompass everything from addressing major issues within the cocoa value chain, evaluating wider confectionery trends, through to exploring companies’ latest equipment and systems developments across confectionery, bakery and snacks segments.

It follows the success of our sister magazine CanTech International’s online conference, which reached a broad global audience, and offered the advantage of content being available for a month.

Neil McRitchie, conference director, believed the move online for 2021’s sector showcase would offer significant opportunities for businesses and individuals working across the sector.

He said: “Due to the continuing situation this year with covid-19, Confectionery Production’s team has concluded that running a physical show this year may not be possible. We want to make the inaugural World Confectionery Conference the most successful event possible, so we have taken the decision to hold a virtual event in June 2021.

“In association with vFairs, we will be running a full conference schedule of top industry speakers, alongside a virtual exhibition space. Delegates enter a virtual lobby and can choose which presentations and exhibition stands to visit. Real-time networking is available, and registrants can access all of the presentations, video and other content in your own time for one month following the event.

“We had hugely positive feedback for this format from an event in November, and we feel it is the perfect replacement for a face-to-face event this year. Working with one of the leaders in producing virtual events, it provides the best possible experience for both delegates and sponsors alike.
