Nestlé extends KitKat series with Biscoff flavours, and revives limited edition vegan version

A revamped series of new and extended flavours for Nestlé’s flagship KitKat brand are set to be released in the UK, across its milk, dark and vegan categories, including a bites offering with Lotus Biscoff, reports Neill Barston.

The range has become especially renowned over the years for its array of options, and this year will be no exception as it looks to cement its key position within the British confectionery retailing sector.

Significantly, all products made in the UK and Ireland are made with 100% certified sustainable cocoa, with Nestlé’s factory in York, the home of KitKat, producing around   five million bars every single day, while more than one billion KitKats are eaten every year within the UK.

As the company revealed, its ‘breaks bonanza’ features a new caramel variety in two-finger and four-finger options, which are also being made available in multipack of nine 20.7g bars, and will shortly be rolled-out across the country.

Furthermore, there will be a new-look KitKat Dark (single 41.5g bar) relaunches with a new recipe and refreshed packaging, which is set to hit shelves from the start of next month.

Among its core releases for the brand is a much-anticipated new Lotus Biscoff Bites offering, featuring a smooth and chocolatey centre, crunchy wafer pieces and a milk chocolate shell, KitKat Bites, is being unveiled following a successful trial with the brand last year. The product features original Lotus Biscoff spread and classic crispy KitKat wafer pieces, available in a 90g sharing bag.

In addition, the company is extending its partnership with the biscuit brand launching its KitKat Chunky White variety. This has the classic crispy wafer, topped with the original Lotus Biscoff caramelised biscuit crumb and filling and covered in smooth white chocolate to create a ‘KitKat Chunky of Champions.’ It is  available as a 42g single bar exclusively in Tesco stores from March.

Notably, the company has confirmed that its special limited edition vegan KitKat is being brought back on a permanent basis, available as a single 41.5g 4-Finger bar, this plant-based break is made with a rice-based milk alternative to create an indulgent-tasting vegan chocolate and crispy wafer combination .

Callum Smith, KitKat assistant brand manager, said: “We all need a pick-me-up at this time of year, and KitKat is the go-to for so many of us when we want to enjoy a delicious break at any time of day. In fact, here at Nestlé HQ, we believe the only thing better than our crisp, chocolate-covered wafer fingers is more choice than ever before!

“That’s why we are delighted to introduce new and revamped flavours across our range of products. Whether it’s a two-Finger KitKat Caramel with a cup of tea or coffee mid-afternoon, or KitKat Bites and a boxset on a cold winter evening, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We predict 2023 will be the best year for breaks yet!”
