pladis targets key festive retail sector with latest McVitie’s Christmas ranges

Global snacks group pladis is targeting assistance to retailers in order to boost seasonal biscuits sales with its 2021 Christmas ranges from its core McVitie’s, as well as Flipz brands, writes Neill Barston.

The company’s festive selection comprises signature seasonal staples, as well as enticing innovation, helping retailers tap into key seasonal consumer trends – such as indulgence, togetherness and gifting.

The return of popular products – such as the festive edition of McVitie’s Family Circle – alongside NPD from both McVitie’s and Flipz is sure to drive excitement, and sales, among a broad range of snacking shoppers.

“This year’s seasonal snacking sales will be bigger than ever, and is set to exceed last year’s £161 million incremental opportunity2,” says Jonathan Bull, Marketing Director – Chocolate, Cake, Seasonal at pladis UK&I. “2020 gave us a Christmas like no other, as seasonal celebrations were dampened by the pandemic, with only limited opportunities to reunite with wider circles of friends and family.

“Because of this, we’re anticipating Christmas 2021 to be BIG, as consumers make up for the time missed due to last year’s restrictions. That’s why it’s more important than ever that retailers ensure they get their seasonal biscuits fixture right.

“Last year, togetherness gained a renewed importance and, given that Christmas is all about spending time with loved ones, we expect sharing products – such as our bestselling McVitie’s Victoria Assortment – along with more premium offerings to prove hugely popular.

“Whether it’s a mid-morning treat with a hot drink, or settling down to share a box of biscuits, every product in the McVitie’s and Flipz seasonal ranges has been skilfully selected as the perfect sharing treat for a range of consumption occasions. By stocking up on our festive family favourites, key gifting lines and novelty NPD, retailers can capitalise on increased demand for seasonal snacks, all-the-while attracting a new generation of seasonal shoppers seeking something extra special this festive season.”
