Clondalkin develops stand up pouch

Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Bury – formerly Chadwicks – has introduced stand up pouches to its flexible packaging product portfolio for UK customers.

Produced at the company’s sister site in Grootegast in the Netherlands, the range includes retortable, microwaveable and non-retortable stand up pouch packaging suitable for sectors including food and beverage, dairy, home and personal care.

The pouches are available in different shapes and sizes and various features are available, such as laser perforation for easy opening; mechanical reclose, such as Velcro zippers; handlegrips for easy handling and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) technology for extended product shelf life.

Stand up pouches, it says, offer a lightweight, convenient, durable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional packaging such as glass jars and aluminium cans. The option of all round print, together with high quality, multi-colour print options means better branding and shelf appeal, Clondalkin adds. They are said to provide better food preservation properties and extended shelf-life, supporting the drive to reduce food waste.

Chris Button, group sales manager for flexibles at Clondalkin Flexible Packaging, said, “More and more brands are turning to flexible packaging solutions such as stand up pouches which offer sustainable, user friendly solutions as well as food protection and extended shelf life.

“We’re seeing growing demand for our retort pouches and pouches that feature modified atmosphere packaging technology (MAP), both of which offer extended product shelf life.”
