Unicorn Ingredients extends Far East operations

Unicorn Ingredients, a leading British supplier of ingredients for the bakery and speciality breads market, has extended its operations in China and India with two key new professional positions.

Unicorn maintains offices in China and India to handle its import and export operations. In China, Han Jia Jia has joined the company in the role of China Quality Assurance. This is a technical role focusing on producer control, ensuring standards are met, compliance with relevant audits and that the product quality is assured.

Creating a dedicated position for Quality Assurance is a reflection of the importance Unicorn places on ensuring the quality of the product. As the company’s organic business grows, the burden of administration around product control and certification will also become more significant and Han Jia Jia will take responsibility for this.  A
In India, Unicorn Ingredients has created a new role for a Commercial Officer to deal with logistics, shipments and other operational activities, thus freeing up time for Country Manager, Hemant Gupte, and others to develop commercial opportunities within India.

A BRC auditor, Gupte is increasingly becoming a global resource for Unicorn, which has a policy of working closely with suppliers and building core relationships. Unicorn’s business growth into new products and niche ranges necessitates further development of the supplier base and Gupte works with producers to help them raise their game, elevate their quality control and improve health and safety within their operations.

Frank Horan, Joint Managing Director of Unicorn Ingredients commented: “We have experienced eight consecutive years of growth and one of the challenges of managing growth is ensuring the resources are in place to maintain our very high standards of product quality. These new positions have been created to do just that.”
