Aldomak on track to gain full BRC accreditation

Scottish food producer Aldomak has been awarded provisional entry-level status by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and is on track to achieve full BRC accreditation later this year.

The BRC Standard is a globally recognised mark of quality and safety. It is the first Food Safety Standard to be benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the consortium set up in 2000 to set an international ‘Gold Standard’.

Managing director Dario Riccomini said, “Aldomak is going from strength to strength and I am confident all our hard work is paying off. To have been BRC accredited, even provisionally, is an incredible achievement, since companies are usual four to five times our size before they can manage something like this. For me, it’s not about profit, but social responsibility.”

He noted that he is working on three priorities that run through the business; that employees are looked after, its supply chain is ethically and locally sourced as well as the firm’s carbon footprint is as close to zero as it can manage.

Riccomini added, “This has come about as a result of the changes to management and process we’ve been working on. I’ve been working to systemise the routine and to humanise the exceptions and it’s paying off. I’m looking forward to the opportunities BRC accreditation will open up to us.”

Aldomak supplies major brands with fudge and macaroons and provides a number of supermarkets with a range of confectionary and oat-based products.
