Pecan Deluxe Candy gains double A safety grade from British Retail Consortium

Pecan Deluxe Candy Europe, which specialises in inclusions for confectionery and snacks has confirmed that it has gained a double A grade from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) global standard for food safety within its operations.
As the US-founded business, which has its European headquarters near Leeds, UK, explained, the award of such standards are acknowledged as one of the toughest assessments to meet, covering quality management systems through to evidence of continual improvement.
Graham Kingston, Pecan Deluxe Candy EMEA managing director, believed the result of the latest audit at the company’s Sherburn-in-Elmet UK HQ is a ringing endorsement of the efforts and commitment made by every member of the team to meet the company’s core principles of placing quality at its heart alongside working safely as a team in a fun and fair environment in the family-owned business.
He said: “The auditor commented that we make high quality and safe products in our facility and was impressed that the procedures and training we demonstrated are embedded into our culture. We’re very proud of our team for achieving a BRC AA Grade.”
Pecan Deluxe Candy supplies a range of business including those based within the UK ice cream, dessert, bakery and snacking sectors with its ever-expanding range of innovative products – a new shape for 2020 was in the form of miniature chocolate turtles – to meet demand, especially in a time of crisis when consumers turn to comfort foods.
Thanks to extremely limited options for eating out during the pandemic, more and more consumers have been seeking to satisfy cravings with moments of indulgence in the food retail aisles, and so demand for ready-made premium foods has rocketed. Pecan Deluxe is responding to that demand by creating inventive, sweet ingredients such as fudges, bakery items and pralines – to name just a few – in a safe and high-quality working environment, reflected by the BRC AA Grade.
As Confectionery Production previously reported, last year, the company’s UK headquarters received a £3 million investment into uprating its equipment and systems, which it says have made a significant difference to its operations.
All Pecan Deluxe products, including traditionally made fudge, moulded chocolate shapes, brownie pieces, cookie dough and praline nuts, are made using natural colours and flavourings in strict allergen controlled, BRC AA Grade facilities. The company is constantly innovating to develop new flavours and textures and can create bespoke products tailor-made to customers’ requirements.
