A trade event with both style and substance

With a largest-ever total of over 1,500 exhibitors, this year’s IPACK-IMA in Milan, Italy this week appears destined to be particularly memorable on a number of levels.

As a media partner for this well-established international packaging trade Confectionery Production will be in attendance to review some of its key developments.

In terms of Italy’s place in the global market, sales of packaging and processing machinery within the segment have been put at a reported €10.8 billion, making it among the key players in Europe, and global market for that matter.

Following in the footsteps of ProSweets and Anuga FoodTec earlier this year, one of the prime areas of focus for the trade show will be on Industry 4.0, and how web-based technology can significantly enhance production operations.

There will be plenty of wider innovations on display across the sector, as well as a continuation of the Save Food initiative addressing the alarming statistic that a third of all food is still being lost to waste during production.

Please do get in touch with any of your news from the show, including new products, processes and concepts, which will form valuable contributions to our show review.

Personally, this will be something of a flying visit to the event as part of my wider visit to Italy for our upcoming focus on the region, but I am certain it’s going to prove enlightening. For those attending IPACK-IMA, I hope it proves enjoyable.
