Cox & Co aim for the skies, striking Virgin Altantic supply deal

British premium confectionery brand, Cox & Co, is set to take flight after gaining a notable contract to supply Virgin Atlantic on its major international routes.

Joining Virgin’s luxury in-flight food offering, the business has secured a six-month contract with the prominent airline, supplying 25g bars of its Bee Pollen & Honey flavour chocolate bars.

Founded by Gavin Cox, the company has struck up a supply agreement with Luker Chocolate’s high grade ethically farmed Colombian cacao and blended with some of nature’s finest offerings to create unique flavour combinations, Cox & Co hit the headlines this year as it launched the first paper flow wrap packaging for a UK chocolate brand. Now it will become a fixture on Virgin Atlantic’s onboard complimentary menu.

Virgin Atlantic’s passengers will be able to enjoy Cox & Co’s 25g Bee Pollen & Honey bars on all flights from this month. The deliciously rich dark chocolate bars contain 60% cacao and are blended with honey and a sprinkling of bee pollen for the right balance of sweet and bitter flavours.

“This is a huge moment for Cox & Co to have our bars onboard Virgin Atlantic. As an independent chocolate brand, this opens up the opportunity to get our chocolate into the hands of a whole new customer base, but it also debuts our 100% recyclable paper flow wrap, which is the first of its kind in the UK confectionery market,” explains Gavin Cox, founder of Cox & Co.

“We believe this new partnership with Virgin Atlantic is a perfect match, with our collective drive towards sustainability and the brands’ actions to reduce our environmental impact. Our paper flow wrappers offer an eco-alternative, providing a recyclable wrapping that reduces the amount of waste for the airline,” adds Gavin.

The premium paper flow wrap has a 65% lower climate impact than plastic wraps and is fully biodegradable, reducing Cox & Co’s carbon footprint by minimising the need for secondary packaging.

The business has set out its mission is to create chocolate that is truly different, made with care and sustainability in mind. This has been emphasised with the relationship with Luker’s cacao estate, underlining its commitment to responsible sourcing.
