This year’s Cargill stand at Food Ingredients Europe is set to feature a notable focus on the confectionery segment, offering visitors the chance to sample white chocolate concepts, indulgent biscuits, protein bar snacks, and inviting ice cream flavours, reports Neill Barston.
With a total of 25,000 people expected from across the wider sector, the 2023 edition of the show is slated to include 1,200 exhibitors across the venues halls in Frankfurt, Germany, making it among the most anticipated dates in the industry calendar.
For its part, Cargill’s Food Solutions, on stand 3.1F180, offers a dedicated go-to-market and innovation teams to co-create with customers, focusing on key growth areas such as Foodservice, Health & Nutrition, as well as Indulgence segments within the sector. As Confectionery Production found at this year’s Gulfood Manufacturing event (catch our exclusive video review of the show here), the company offered a number of regionally-tailored solutions for the market (see main image), which is set to be the case with its European event, which runs between 28-30 November.
Overall, the business will be showcasing a total of 19 on-trend prototypes representing innovation possibilities across multiple categories. Solutions for plant-based and indulgence applications feature prominently, propelled by several new ingredients. This includes cocoa pulp solutions that meet consumer demand by bringing together indulgence and sustainability.
As the business noted, consumers are looking for label-friendly products that are high in fruit and low in sugars with great texture and pleasant mouthfeel. In response, it has developed a new generation conventional low methoxyl pectin (LMC) with superior gel strength: UniPECTINE LMCPlus.
For FiE 2023, it is using these new pectin solutions, which are suitable for organic applications as well, in an organic label-friendly high fruit spread.
What’s more, the company’s Caramel Selection, a range of white chocolate made with unique blends of caramelised ingredients designed to deliver indulgent flavours like never before. We will be featuring untapped sensorial space within caramel, such as white chocolate made with unique blends of caramelised ingredients in single serve napolitain chocolate tablets and as an ingredient application (i.e., the coating of a filled praline).
Other trends, products, and prototypes from across Cargill’s ingredient portfolio will be exhibited at the company’s stand, including beverages, snacks, plant-based alternatives to dairy, plant-based meat alternatives, and indulgent ice cream and bakery products.
