WDS confirms equipment focus for ProSweets 2022

German-based confectionery equipment business Winkler und Dünnebier Süßwarenmaschinen (WDS) has unveiled its exhibition plans for ProSweets 2022, writes Neill Barston.

It has developed solutions for a broad range of businesses within the sector, ranging from small to large sized companies with machine capacities from 200 kg/h to 7000 kg/h, which will gain a showcase at the event scheduled to take place between 30 January, 2 February in Cologne.

Among the company’s core systems for chocolate is the ConfecECO is the start-up line for the production of plain, centre-filled bars, pralines and masses with inclusions, and is also suitable for jellies.

Furthermore, it has developed its ConfecPRO (below) chocolate production plant for confectionery manufacturers who want to target a medium to high output quantity. Its modular design together with the decentralised electrical control ensures an easy future growth-oriented expansion at reportedly small expenditure.

As the business noted, a key pilar of its progress has been delivered through its Product Innovation Centre based at its headquarters in Rengsdorf, Germany, WDS has grown to become a  solution partner providing all services to transform a product idea into a successful product launch.

Most projects start at the Product Innovation Centre where the WDS team of food scientists tests new product concepts using its lab equipment. Globally, the company has gained notable success in building moulding plants for jellies and chocolates for decades.

In addition to an innovative depositor that enables product development and innovative depositing processes, it has also developed to a new generation of moulding plants for gums and jellies as well as chocolates targeting new standards according to efficiency, hygiene, and product treatment. This has been driven by a changing demand from large capacity lines for a dedicated product towards flexible lines which entertain multiple different products with a medium production capacity.

Another main focus at ProSweets: the consistent further development of the WDS services und support to become a service partner in confectionery production. WDS stands for excellent After-Sales Services providing life cycle care support, upgrades and retrofits of existing lines with new technologies.

For most customers, WDS Mogul lines for the production of jellies, fondant toffee are the first choice. The company is experienced in the production of jelly and gum (on pectin basis, gum arabic, gelatine, agar-agar, carrageen), as well as liquorice, fondant, cream, marshmallow foam and similar masses. A core expertise is the depositing of centre-filled products with e.g. a fruit paste filling.

With the Mogul Type 660 WDS more than ever has focused on standardisation as well as consistent modular design. The result is a highly efficient, long-lasting quality machine, which nevertheless can be offered cost-effectively due to its construction and design features.

For a couple of years now starchless production technology has been used very successfully for the manufacturing of toffees, fondant and pec-tin jellies. Referring to the rapidly growing market for OTC gums and jellies with its high demands for hygienic production plants WDS has developed a new direction regarding the moulding processes.

As the company added, until a few years ago silicone technology was clearly favoured, which has changed towards polycarbonate moulds allowed the development of a completely new, modern, clean and highly efficient plant technology for fruit gum manufacturing, which has its roots in the moulding of confectioneries and chocolates.
