Let’s get creative

Supporting its commitment to new product development, last week Cornelius officially launched its Creative Centre at its headquarters in Hertfordshire, UK.

The ingredients, raw materials and specialty chemicals distributor has invested in a space which features a contemporary suite to host workshops, seminars and meetings with partners and customers. It will offer access to the Cornelius Innovation & Application Support (IAS) team, while samples, technology and information will be on hand to customers looking to optimise their new product development processes.

The centre also complements the company’s additional investment in a health and nutrition kitchen at the site. In the newly designed and equipped kitchen, Cornelius food technologists can test recipes, explore new ingredients, create demonstrations and develop or reformulate products.

As well as working on customer specific briefs, the IAS team will produce solutions for core markets, which include confectionery, bakery, beverage, dairy, meat, supplements and sports nutrition.

Speaking at the event, newly appointed CEO Darren Spiby, said, “Our vision for the creative centre is that it will become a conduit for creative growth and allow our customers to benefit from added value product development solutions.

“It presents an exciting opportunity for our customers and internal teams to experience an efficient, effective and collaborative innovation approach.”

The group also revealed that it will produce its first corporate social responsibility (CSR) report at the end of 2016, which according to Cornelius, is a first in the sector.

And it wouldn’t be normal these days if Brexit was not mentioned. Addressing the audience, chairman Neville Prior said Cornelius enjoyed a “record” August despite the UK voting to leave the European Union back in June.

Having recently expanded its geographical reach to Denmark by opening a health and nutrition office, Spiby said the company is also engaged in other conversations with people around the world.

There’s no denying Cornelius has strong appetite for growth and will use the creative centre as a catalyst for exactly that.
