Tate & Lyle delivers buoyant trading update, as it receives Chinese accolade for stevia development

Ingredients group Tate & Lyle has issued a key trading update, confirming its recent acquisition of pectin gum specialist, CP Kelco has progressed as planned, as the company continues to navigate global market headwinds, reports Neill Barston.
With present global uncertainties surrounding the introduction of US tariffs creating confusion for many sectors, the wider industry is continuing to adapt to fast-evolving conditions that are influencing conventional supply chains.
For its part, Tate & Lyle state that it has performed as expected in Q4, and its 2025 results remain in-line with guidance, we expect revenue will be 5% lower and EBITDA will be 4% higher, in light of present trading conditions.

Company honours
Significantly, the company, which supplies a number of segments including confectionery, bakery and snacks markets, as well as beverages, has been honoured with an award from Environment+Energy Leader (E+E Leader), a leading US sustainability publication, for its impactful regenerative stevia programme in China.
As the business noted, the accolades have run for almost 15 years, recognising excellence in environmental and energy management, celebrating organis ations, products and projects that drive meaningful change. This award celebrates Tate & Lyle’s commitment to environment stewardship and efforts to strengthen responsible sourcing in the sweetener industry.
Furthermore, Tate & Lyle’s sustainability programme, in partnership with environmental charity Earthwatch Europe and Nanjing Agricultural University, is designed to drive positive environmental and social impact across the stevia supply chain. The program focuses on farmer education, fertilizer optimization and the incorporation of cover crops. Through partnerships with farmers and investments in regenerative agricultural practices, the program has successfully improved soil health, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved local watershed quality while improving the livelihoods of participating stevia farmers.
