Major snacks group pladis appoints Jennifer Moss as R&D chief

Major international snacking brand pladis has appointed Jennifer Moss as global chief research and development (R&D) officer for the group, across its chocolate and confectionery operations.

She joins the company’s leadership team to focus on developing innovations to build a dynamic range of products to meet the needs of consumers, and will lead a team developing tastes and flavours through a mastery of flavour science and technologies.

The company, which formed in 2016, has a number of key sweets, bakery and biscuit brands under its management including McVitie’s and Ulker, as well as exclusively distributing Godiva chocolates for consumer-packaged goods channels around the world. In addition, the business also owns a number of regional household names including Jacob’s, go ahead!, Carr’s and Flipz among others.

Moss’s extensive background in FMCG and R&D spans nearly three decades, having worked for well-known companies including Procter & Gamble, Unilever and, most recently, at Campbell Arnott’s. She joins pladis, home to a baking and confectionery heritage, with strong credentials in both.

During her time at Arnott’s, Jennifer led innovation for the portfolio across Australia and Asia, built effective technology strategies across multiple geographies, and rejuvenated brands such as ‘Shapes’, ‘Via-Weat’and the infamous Tim Tams.

Welcoming Jennifer to the company, Salman Amin, CEO of pladis said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Jennifer to lead our R&D team. Innovation sits at the heart of our business and Jennifer’s vast experience and proven track record in innovation across product, packaging, sensory, culinary, and nutrition will help us further our ambitions. I’m confident that Jennifer is the perfect addition to our team as we focus on growing our star brands globally.”

Commenting on her appointment, Moss, who holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales,  said: “pladis is home to some of the most iconic brands with an incredible heritage and I’m excited to be part of their future. I look forward to bringing by experience and my ambition to create innovation that lasts.”
