A key management appointment has been confirmed by German packaging machinery group, Theegarten-Pactec, with Robert Berge joining the business as part of its management team, writes Neill Barston.

The Dresden-based company, which was among major exhibitors at last month’s interpack event (see the company’s CEO and president Markus Rustler offer his reflections on the event in our exclusive video below), has moved to strengthen its leadership team.

Consequently, Robert Berge joined the business this month, with a view to gradually taking over the responsibilities of  long-standing Managing Director Dr Egbert Röhm, who is due to retire at the end of 2028.

The new appointee has extensive industry production experience, and has long-standing management experience in the drive technology sector, related closely to the work of Theegarten-Pactec.

Last month’s interpack saw the company showcase its complete range of competence within the sector, including its new FPC6 flow wrapping line, which is capable of handling products with chocolate, cereal, protein bar, and wider confectionery and snacks markets.

The company’s latest management appointment brings plenty of sector relevance to his role, having been responsible for managing large production divisions and, since 2013, for the successful management of a medium-sized industrial company.

As the equipment manufacturer noted, in this post he drove forward the strategic and operational development of production sites in Germany within an international context.

His key priorities included developing long-term, sustainable site strategies, strengthening competitiveness, growth and operational efficiency – as well as supporting transformation processes in value chain and make-or-buy structures. He was also responsible for the introduction of modern production, control and ERP systems.

Robert Berge commented on his role. He said: “I look forward to shaping the next phase of growth together with the Theegarten-Pactec team. My focus will be on innovation, digitalisation, operational excellence and sustainable value creation.”

Meanwhile, Dr Röhm will remain with the company as Managing Director until the end of 2028 and will actively support the transition. This also ensures that the company’s future management structure is in place at an early stage, as it continues its global activities supplying equipment and systems for confectionery, snacks and wider food markets around the world.
