Cadbury completes 200th anniversary with fine festive confectionery line-up

With Cadbury continuing to enjoy its 200th anniversary celebrations, the company’s Christmas confectionery line-up features a selection of family favourites, alongside some sparkling new festive surprises, reports Neill Barston.

As the company revealed, some 50% of festive chocolate sales occur during December itself, which remains hugely significant to the sector, with business along with many other leading firms beginning its marketing activity early this year from the start of autumn in a bid to gain momentum.

One the most eagerly anticipated returns is the Cadbury Dairy Milk Coins (pictured below), which according to the company finished last Christmas as the number one new product development, with sales of 1.4 million packs.

Among other core focuses this year are its Cadbury Puds, which returned to the range in 2021, which has been expanded with a Mini Puds variant into a bitesize 73g bag format for the first time.

Meanwhile, Oreo has jumped on board the festive fun with its limited-edition Gingerbread variety, designed as a festive snack to help shoppers get into the spirit of the season with its embossed gingerbread flavoured cookies. The packs will also feature the OREO’s new-look packaging, helping these sweet treats stand out even more on shelf.

Notably, the company also released its Cadbury Dairy Milk Creamy Advent Calendar, featuring 24 Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates with a soft creamy filling. There are also high hopes for classic collections including its Cadbury Medium Selection Box and Cadbury Buttons Selection Box, which will sit alongside a striking re-design for Cadbury Roses tin, which remains an evergreen favourite.

As the company confirmed, gifting blocks make up 5% of total winter confectionery sales, so are a must-stock for retailers in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day. The brand also offers a wide range of gifting blocks including the classic Cadbury Dairy Milk 360g bar, as well as this year’s 200th anniversary limited-edition tablet. This season also sees the return of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Winter Mint Crisp 360g block to shelves, helping retailers further tap into the sharing occasions.

The Cadbury Buttons Selection Box is returning to shelves this year following its successful launch in 2023. New for 2024 is the inclusion of White Buttons, which will appear alongside three other flavoured 95g treat bags: Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons, Cadbury Dairy Milk Orange Buttons, and Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel Nibbles.

Last, but by no means least, there is also a return by popular demand for the Cadbury Dairy Milk Winter Mint Crisp. This 360g bar sees the nation’s favourite chocolate combined with festive mint flavouring for a seasonal twist to drive shopper excitement this Christmas.
