The Swiss-headquartered Barry Callebaut group has unveiled two key better-for-you chocolate product ranges, Callebaut NXT and Sicao Zero, for the Mexican market, in response to increasing calls for healthier product options, writes Neill Barston.
Linked to the two releases, the company’s latest trend report has shown that 45% of consumers in Latin America claim to consume chocolate and confectionery products every week – with low or no sugar within products being among consumers highest areas of importance.
As the business noted, shoppers attitudes to life and eating habits are constantly evolving, with the business having identified the notion of ‘mindful indulgence’ as being a core area of focus for its product development, with items that are both better-for-you, as well as better for the planet, are seen as especially desirable.
“Barry Callebaut is committed to creating products that are not only tasty but also good for the consumer and the planet. With Callebaut NXT and SICAO Zero, we are responding to the growing demand for this trend by offering healthier chocolate alternatives without compromising the beloved taste consumers crave,” explained Jesus Carlos Valencia, the firm’s managing director for the LATAM region.
According to Barry Callebaut’s report, five out of ten consumers in the region have increased their consumption of vegan chocolate in the past 12 months. Furthermore, 67% of Latin American consumers agree they seek sustainably-produced chocolates. This data demonstrates that consumers actively seek indulgent options that align with their preferences and values.
