Gosh! Food makes multi-million investment in UK production site

UK-based Gosh! Food has made a £5 million investment into a second manufacturing facility for its core vegan product ranges which includes a series of natural ingredient snacks.

The 17,000 square foot site, located in Milton Keynes, took just five months to create and will create up to 15 new jobs in the local area and has the potential to double current production capacity. This will allow Gosh! to continue to meet current demand and expand into new and exciting categories.

As the company noted to Confectionery Production, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Gosh! has experienced year-on-year growth and branched into a new category with its Snack Bites launch in November 2020, securing listings in Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons stores across the country.

In addition, the business, which produces a full range of food products from burgers and sausages, through to an array of snack bites, also secured a listing in over 400 Co-op stores with its core range at the start of 2021.

With the Plant-Based category continuing to grow at +28% YOY and Veganuary 2021 being the biggest yet, the market outlook continues to be positive.

The new facility has been built in keeping with the brand’s ethos, so all products will be plant-based, made from only natural ingredients and the site is free-from all allergens. Gosh! are also committed to reducing their environmental footprint and the new site has been developed with this in mind; it has energy saving LED lighting throughout, a gas free hot water supply and the machinery has the highest energy efficiency ratings available. Like the current site, zero waste will go to landfill and food waste will be used to produce renewable energy.

Commenting on the opening, David Blagg, Operations Director at Gosh! Food said: “We are delighted with the specification of the new site and the build was completed in an exceptionally quick timeframe. This is a great opportunity, not only to continue to grow Gosh!, but to offer new jobs to the Milton Keynes area and invest behind our current employees.

“We appointed an experienced project manager, who has worked with us on many previous projects, including the build of our first production facility and their knowledge and organisational skills were invaluable. A project like this requires a strong team behind it and our Gosh! employees and suppliers demonstrated an outstanding work ethic and in the hardest of circumstances, with the challenges that Covid-19 has brought about”.
