British confectionery brand Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls releases classic Christmas series

UK premium confectionery brand Uncle Joe’s Mint Balls is mustering some seasonal spirit in unveiling three new special flavours – Mulled Wine, Christmas Pudding, and Mince Pie, which were created after an online poll of fans suggestions.

John Winnard MBE and Ant Winnard, Joint Managing Directors at Wigan-based Uncle Joe’s, revealed the sweets were available from this week and had been distributed in an exclusive deal with national retailer Home Bargains

The brand is manufactured by Wigan-based William Santus and Co Ltd, a privately-owned traditional sweet company that was established in 1898, and has continually evolved its confectionery range over the decades.

Welcoming the new Christmas series, John Winnard said: “We wanted to do something a little bit special this Christmas to help put a smile on people’s faces and our appeal for flavour ideas had an amazing response.

“We put the five most popular suggestions to the vote and counted up everyone’s comments, likes and emails to discover the winners and are delighted that Home Bargains have agreed to sell the top three. They are a little bit of fun but also taste great and make a perfect stocking filler for both children and adults.”

The Mint Balls range remains manufactured using the same traditional methods as when Mrs Santus originally made the sweets in her kitchen in 1898, and recently gained its moment in the spotlight with a visit from HRH Prince Charles, who was keen to explore the company’s family-owned manufacturing facilities.
