Natra commits to certified cocoa

Natra has committed to sourcing 100% certified cocoa by 2020.  The Spanish chocolate manufacturer and supplier of cocoa ingredients will gradually increase the purchase of certified cocoa by 2020 so that it represents 100% of the consumption of the company; promote certification among producers cooperatives cocoa with which the company does business; participate in non-profit organisations that promote the protection of farmers and their families, as well as the effective organisation of cooperatives in that cluster, and publish annually information on the source of cocoa indicating what proportion of the total has been certified and which have been the hallmarks certifiers.

In the same timescale, Natra plans to acquire 100% of its palm oil from plantations compatible with survival of tropical forests, promoting rational use of natural resources, with special emphasis on reducing water consumption and energy measure the carbon footprint of each product in the portfolio, buy green power whenever possible, use cardboard from an environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and promote the use of all waste generated.

Also by 2020, the company will eliminate trans fats, replace artificial flavours with other 100% natural ingredients, reduce the salt content, and completely avoid using artificial colors.
