Looking ahead

As we near the final deadline of 2014, we’re looking ahead to the new year. We hope you like the new look Confectionery Production, which will land on your desks in January. We are certainly very pleased with the more modern feel of the magazine that we have introduced to mark our 80th year! And we very much look forward to hearing what you think.
So, here’s a taste of what you’ve got to look forward to in the December/January issue. ProSweets is the next big industry event in the calendar and the first of 2015, and you’ll find a show preview to help you plan your visit well in advance.

Confectionery consultant Bill Edwards discusses developments in the cooking and depositing of sugar confectionery, and Keith Graham, marketing manager, Baker Perkins, considers how a combination of innovation and quality can be the key to growth in the sugar confectionery market.
Also in this issue, Paul Collins, GNT Group board member and managing director GNT UK, looks at the preferences of European consumers when buying sweets and John Rainer, regional sales manager, Fanuc UK, considers the benefits of automation in the industry.
And finally, I report on the Academy of Chocolate Conference, which was held at The Royal Automobile Club in London’s Pall Mall in October and David Hayes visits Turkish confectionery producer Elvan Gida San ve Tic AS to discover what’s behind the company’s ambitious 10 year plan.
