The Nestlé Creating Shared Value (CSV) Council has named Rob Cameron as its new chair, leading its work on delivering growth and positive impact for communities it works with around the world, writes Neill Barston.

As previously reported by our title, the Swiss headquartered company has sought to establish programmes over the decades that have placed a targeted focus on social improvement, including its income accelerator scheme designed for cocoa farmers in West Africa.

Rob Comeron succeeds Janet Voûte, who has chaired the Council for more than 10 years, steering its work as an advisory body to Nestlé’s overall international operations.

Moreoover, as the business explained, through its creating shared value approach, Nestlé links societal progress with business growth. As it noted, delivering improvements for communities as well as for shareholders strengthens its brands, aligning long-term business success with meaningful impact for people, communities and the planet.

The CSV Council supports this work by advising the Executive Board, on topics such as balanced diets, regenerative agriculture, climate action and livelihoods. The Council’s 10 external members bring expertise in strategy, sustainability, nutrition, water, biodiversity, food systems and rural development.

Philipp Navratil, CEO of Nestlé, said: “The CSV Council provides us with invaluable insights, guidance and recommendations, as we work to create value for all Nestlé stakeholders. I would like to thank Janet for her leadership over more than a decade and for helping us embed CSV across Nestlé. I am confident that Rob will build on this work, as we advance our ambitions on nutrition, regenerative agriculture and climate action.”

As part of its CSV approach, Nestlé aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% and source 50% of its key ingredient volumes from farmers adopting regenerative agriculture practices, both by 2030. The company is also continuing its work to reduce and improve its packaging and support the shift to circular systems.
