Luxury chocolate offerings from Love Cocoa set the tone for summer

Ethically founded British confectionery brand Love Cocoa has unveiled its latest premium offerings, a duo of new bars including a buttery 35% blonde variety, and an 85% dark option, writes Neill Barston.

The company, formed by James Cadbury, and makes its lines in the UK, has focused on sustainably sourced Colombian cocoa, which has targeted the luxury gifting market, and has also stood out for its plastic-free packaging.

It is releasing the new series initially via its website at lovecocoa.com, with the blonde variant offered in a 75g format at £5, while its dark counterpart is also available at the same size and price point. As the company noted, it is the ‘darkest’ offering yet made by the company, and is said to have a rich, intense and indulgent flavour. It is also vegan friendly.

As the business explained, the B Corp certified brand was founded on three principles: People – Planet – Passion. Led by modern chocolatier, James Cadbury, Love Cocoa is focused on driving positive change within the chocolate industry. Crafting with pride and care, the brand uses only the finest quality cacao that’s ethically sourced from growers who farm fairly and pay their workers properly.

As part of its ecological commitments, Love Cocoa partners with Eden Reforestation Projects via 1% for the Planet, with the aim of planting over 200,000 trees each and every year. To date, the brand has planted 1.8 million trees across North and East Africa in a bid to combat deforestation and climate change.

Love Cocoa founder, James Cadbury, commented: “We’ve been working on these 35% Blonde and 85% Dark Chocolate Bars for the past 12 months, and we can’t wait to see how they’re received. Blonde chocolate is a trend that we expect to grow even more, with the deep caramelised flavour making it feel like an indulgent treat, while we’re finding consumers are increasingly opting for dark chocolate, reflecting perhaps how it’s considered the ‘healthiest’ chocolate, with fewer ingredients alongside its higher antioxidant content. Spanning both ends of the chocolate spectrum, we believe these bars will be a real hit.”
