Food Union seeks cocktail inspiration for latest ice cream series

The Latvian-headquartered Food Union group has taken inspiration from the highest rated cocktail flavours for a novel cross-category series of ice creams, writes Neill Barston.

As the business explained to Confectionery Production, it has fused its knowledge of mixology with its confectionary expertise to deliver its latest series based on  favourite alcoholic tipples including Orange Spritz and Piña Colada for its key summer release.

The latter offers a creamy taste of milk with a swirl of pineapple and coconut for its Ekselence Caramel Piña Colada ice cream with caramel sauce, with its fellow new arrival coming in the form of ice cream coated in thick white chocolate.

Both cocktail inspired products are made from the richest Latvian milk and cream, combined with the finest quality, carefully selected ingredients to deliver a tropical experience for fans of the brand.

Commenting on the new release, Normunds Stanevics, CEO of Food Union Europe, said: “These new ice creams were developed at our Innovation Centre in Riga, Latvia to perfectly fuse the art of mixology with our ice cream know-how. By putting a modern twist on traditional dairy products enables us to broaden our consumer appeal and give our existing consumers the opportunity to explore new, tantilising flavours.”

To create these hybrid products that fuse cocktail bar favourites with ice cream, the Food Union development teams went through extensive processes to create, test, taste and tweak until they produced a quality finished product that captures the essence of a cocktail on a stick.
