Mars Wrigley unveils expanded Christmas confectionery series
Mars Wrigley UK has become the latest major manufacturer to release its festive line-up of confectionery treats, including Galaxy caramel truffles and orange truffles, reports Neill Barston.
As the company revealed to Confectionery Production, the Christmas season will also see the return of a number of seasonal favourites, including its Celebrations selection tubs.
The business said that it has conducted extensive research and development behind its caramel truffles that are released this month. It included sampling over 10 different caramels to hit upon the desired flavour pairing for its latest launch. Meanwhile, its new orange variety of truffles has been developed as a further key Christmas flavour theme.
In addition, following its successful launch last year, Galaxy Truffles has further expanded the company’s range within the segment. It returns with a large 329g gift box format alongside Mars Wrigley’s original premium truffle offering, Maltesers Truffles.
As the company noted, Christmas isn’t quite complete without a the tradition of a selection box, so, alongside its popular Celebrations range, Mars is also launching Milky Way and Skittles options to further tap into the sharing rituals of the holidays and appeal to the classic confectionery fans.
Alongside the new and favourite gifting options, Mars are also extending the premium offering to advent calendars, with the launch of the new Galaxy Truffles Advent Calendar and the return of a Maltesers Truffles Advent Calendar.
This year, the 265g Maltesers Christmas Mix pouches is back again and will contain 15 SKUs in total including a selection of its Buttons range, as well as the Maltesers Reindeer (which has remained the number one best-selling confectionery treat for the festive season).
Jo Sinisgalli, gifting senior brand manager at Mars Wrigley UK said: “Chocolate and confectionery plays an ever important role in providing little moments of joy and pleasure for people across the world – something that is not only needed during this uncertain time but a staple tradition during the holiday season.
“We know that Brits will still want to celebrate the holidays with family, friends and neighbours in a safe way through activities at home and virtual parties and know that these exciting treats will bring some Christmas magic and cheer to all!”
