British Bake Off returns
With a week to go until The Great British Bake Off returns to our TV screens, the contestant line-up has been revealed.
A teacher, garden designer and engineer are among the 12 contestants taking part, and they will be doing all they can to impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. A nurse, builder turned pastoral worker and politics and economic student are also in the line-up.
The show will see the amateur bakers produce both sweet and savoury items for the all-important showstopper and technical challenges. However, one contestant will leave each week until a winner is announced.
Last year, Nadiya Hussain was crowned winner. She has since published her own cookbooks and even made the Queen’s 90th birthday cake earlier this year. While it’s anyone’s guess who will win this year, I know one thing for sure is that I’ll be tuning in.
Meanwhile, the September issue of Confectionery Production will be going to press at the end of August. As well as the first in a series of articles on viscosity, readers can look forward to exclusive interviews with newly elected Caobisco president Alessandro Cagli and the UK team at 3D chocolate printing company Choc Edge.
