Apprenticeship scheme from Dawn Foods aims to inspire next generation talents

As part of its commitment to nurturing new industry talent, Dawn Foods has launched a much-needed Student and Bakery Apprentice Ambassador Programme 2025, aiming to develop the next generation of skilled sector workers.

The new look scheme is aimed at students aged 18 years+ studying for a level 4 or above bakery related qualification or undertaking a recognised bakery training programme.

Dawn Foods plans to appoint three Student Ambassadors to undertake work experience at the company’s Worcestershire factory as well as the chance to work with Dawn’s development team on new recipes. Dawn’s Student Ambassadors also create content for the company’s social media platforms and for insight for external media such as British Baker, providing excellent opportunities for students to promote themselves to the wider bakery sector.

Notably, the company has worked in partnership with University College Birmingham on the programme for the past eight years but is now widening the opportunity to people at other bakery colleges as well as members of the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST).

Furthermore, the business is now looking for their Student Ambassadors to be passionate about the bakery industry, and excited about new ideas and trends in the market. Application is straightforward and not time consuming.

Jacqui Passmore, Marketing Lead West EU & AMEAP at Dawn Foods, commented: “As a leading bakery company, Dawn Foods is committed to supporting young people at the start of their career. There are many opportunities in bakery that young people may not be aware of – manufacture and production, NPD, procurement, sales and marketing and operations, to name just a few. Our Student Ambassador programme not only helps students gain hands-on insight into these channels but, of course, boosts the CV too and enhances their prospects with future employers.

“We’re delighted to be able to widen the scope of the programme for 2025 and look forward to seeing the entries.”
