Kitkat gains fresh double chunky dark chocolate edition

A fresh flavour is being added to the KitKat family, which has added a chunky crunchy double chocolate edition to the longstanding range, which has continued to offer a strong performance in global markets, writes Neill Barston.
The latest iteration of the brand from Nestlé Confectionery UK & Ireland is set to be released exclusively in British Sainsburys and Spar stores from next week.
It features the classic chocolate crispy wafer coated in milk chocolate that has been a cornerstone of the series that has been enjoyed for generations around the world.
Significantly, the KitKat Chunky Crunchy Double Chocolate is made with cocoa mass sourced from families enrolled in Nestlé’s cocoa Income Accelerator Programme.
As the company explained, the scheme, which launched in 2022, aimed to help close the living income gap of cocoa-farming families and tackling child labour risks.
The programme has so far supported more than 10,000 families in Ivory Coast and has since expanded to Ghana to include a total of 30,000 families. By 2030, the programme aims to reach an estimated 160,000 cocoa-farming families in Nestlé’s global cocoa supply chain to create impact at scale. The business has indicated to Confectionery Production that there remains potential for this total to be even greater in the longer-term.
Torin Zieboll, Assistant Brand Manager for KitKat said: “We’re super excited about this new limited edition KitKat Chunky bar because it does such a good job of combining a delicious taste with an exciting texture. With double the chocolate and tasty crunch, we think the KitKat Chunky Crunchy Double Chocolate will become an instant favourite among Chunky fans.”
This limited-edition KitKat Chunky 42g bar (RRP 75p) comes in a wrapper that is recyclable if taken back to most UK supermarkets.
Notably, since its launch in 1999, KitKat Chunky has created a range of mouthwatering limited editions, including Caramel, Peanut Butter, Cookie Dough, Biscoff, Chocolate Fudge, and New York Cheesecake.
