UK ingredients business Henley Bridge is offering food firms in the confectionery and bakery sectors some royal-themed inspiration with its latest series of special celebratory recipes marking Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, writes Neill Barston.
As the company noted, its latest offerings have been designed to lend some cheer amid challenging times with eye-catching tasty treats including edible commemorative coins, vegan chocolate crowns, strawberry tarts and dishes inspired by the monarch’s original coronation menu.
Tracey Hughes, managing director of Henley Bridge, which has grown notably since founding in 1998 to employ 50 people at its 30,000 square foot facility at Lewes, near Brighton, believed there were plenty of opportunities for celebrations.
She said: “After the lockdowns we’ve endured over the last couple of years, I think we’re all ready for a big party. For caterers, bakers and chocolatiers, the Jubilee weekend is set to be a very busy – and lucrative – time, as long as you get your offering right. It’s all about having the right ingredients and products to hand.
“Consumers will be expecting plenty of red, white and blue, as well as platinum themed products, and there are so many brilliant and time-saving ingredients to help you achieve this. Cakes, buns and doughnuts can be coloured with vibrant food colourings and decorated with red, white and blue icings and toppings to instantly give a regal/patriotic feel.
“For street party food and Jubilee afternoon teas, Pidy’s ready-made pastry cases, which are available in a range of sizes, shapes and colours, are an easy solution for creating delicious, sweet and savoury treats. Simply fill with toppings such as Coronation chicken, chocolate or strawberries, and you’re good to go.”
According to the company, among this summer’s must-have Jubilee shopping list ingredients include Chocolatree silver sparkling powder spray, Chocolatree book of edible silver squares, Wrights of Lymm edible silver leaf transfer sheets, Irca rainbow paste icing – available in red, white and blue, Chocolatree white chocolate blue and pink rings, Dobla light blue white chocolate natural curls, as well as Barbara Decor white chocolate blossom curls.
The company suggests plenty more besides, including Hillbo blue coloured white chocolate rizo curls, Barbara Décor white chocolate pink rose petals, Sosa Crisy Peta effervescent strawberry flavoured pieces, Sosa strawberry flavoured sugar, Leonce Blanc fruit purees, Sosa freeze-dried strawberry powder, Irca Joyfruit blueberry.
Ice cream parlours will also be looking for Jubilee gelatos, and Henley Bridge’s ice cream technicians have created a stunning blueberry-flavoured Union Jack pan, using a stencil and red and blue velvet sprays to create the flag effect. For more details visit Henley Bridge’s website.
