Confectionery firms examine 3D gummies and jellies applications
A gathering of nine leading confectionery companies has attended an unveiling of an innovative production process, Connect, which creates 3-D gummies and jellies confectionery ranges, writes Neill Barston.
The recent industry showcase attracted an online audience of 750, demonstrating advanced technology that has removed the issue of having ‘flat-backed’ sweets that often leave an unwanted ‘dosing dot,’ which has now been addressed.
As the project’s co-ordinators explained, the Connect team has developed an innovative product concept, researched the necessary raw material properties, worked out recipes, designed shapes, and built the right production facilities. These have been accompanied by scientifically measured results in order to achieve well-founded market relevance for the confectionery industry.
According to the venture, the strength of the team lies in the bundling of the technical competence of nine companies in order to support the confectionery manufacturers with expertise and passion. The venture has been created to focus on new types of confectionery that aim to deliver enjoyment, surprise and fun for consumers.
