Epac to open second flexible packaging plant

North American flexible packaging company Epac Holdings has announced plans to open its next plant in Boulder, Colorado in the second half of 2017.

Epac Boulder will be based on the same business platform as the company’s first site in Middleton, Wisconsin, which opened in April 2016. Epac Boulder will specialise in serving the flexible packaging needs of brands in a range of markets, including natural and organic foods, snacks, coffee, sports nutrition and pet food.

Epac Boulder’s sales office opened in April this year and has been engaging with customers in the local market. All orders will be manufactured in Epac’s Wisconsin plant until the Boulder facility is fully functional.

Dustin Steerman, executive vice president, Epac Boulder, says the site is working with local brands by providing new packaging solutions and an alternative to packaging produced overseas.

Epac maintains that it is the only North American company to be built around emerging wide web digital printing technology, which significantly lowers costs for short to medium length runs. It goes on to add that it reduces manufacturing lead time from months to just ten days, enables custom printing and eliminates plate fees and inventory cost.
