Cemoi acquires moulded chocolate specialist
French chocolate manufacturer The Cemoi Group has acquired US based moulded chocolate specialist Chris Candies from private investors.
Chris Candies manufactures year-round and seasonal chocolates for premium markets, specialising in organic, Fairtrade and low sugar chocolate. In addition to manufacturing products for other chocolate brands, the company supplies numerous supermarket chains, clubs, groceries and specialty stores channels.
The acquisition, Cemoi says, enables the company to reinforce its position in North America under private label.
The positioning of Chris Candies is in line with the strategy of Cemoi, which distributes its products to over 50 countries. It purchases 3% of the world cocoa crop and has its own site in Western Africa in order to promote the terroir and to be closer to farmers.
