Bio-based twist film to be launched

20 September 2010 –  Cereplast says an agreement reached with Turkish company Sezersan Ambalaj will see bio-based twist film packaging launched onto the European market for the first time.

Sezersan, a subsidiary of the ASC Group, explains that the bio-based packaging would be targeted mainly at the confectionery industry but could also have applications across other sectors. The bio-twist film will be manufactured using Cereplast Compostable 7003 bio resin, which has been designed to provide high strength process ability.

“From the beginning the process ability was an issue we had in mind,” says Sezersan general manager Refik Ulukan. “But we are very experienced in extrusion products and pooled ideas with Cereplast to produce a film that is very good.”

Cereplast will begin monthly shipments of 100 to 150 metric ton of bio resin in December 2010. Two major confectionery companies are currently testing the product.
