23 November 2011 – One of Europe’s largest biscuit factories, Galletas Gullon, has successfully increased its production levels as a direct result of installing Chiorino HP food quality conveyor belts in its factories.

Chiorino UK are global manufacturers of conveyor and transmission belts, predominantly for the food production industry. Recently, Chiorino supplied Galletas Gullon with 20 HP conveyor belts to work on their IMAFONI conveyors.

The belts are used to transport cookies for most of their production cycle – during which, aggressive oils are released. This previously provided a problem for Galletas Gullon before deciding to change the belts. The new Chiorino HP belts prove very resistant to oils as well as fats and various chemicals such as detergents.

Galletas Gullon has two factories in Palencia, Spain, where they produce a large range of biscuits, wafers and crackers. Their newest factory, Gullon II, is the largest biscuit factory in Spain, with a surface area of over 35,000m2. It is equipped with Europe’s latest innovations in biscuit manufacturing technology, including its conveyor belts from Chiorino.

A spokesperson for Galletas Gullon, says, “We have been using Chiorino HP food quality belts for over three years and we are achieving improved results due to the increased performance and durability of the belts.”

Chiorino manufacture the belts using a sophisticated calendaring productive system which means that the surface of the belt is absolutely compact and homogeneous.

Managing director of Chiorino UK, Carl Johnson, says: “The total absence of cracking stops the formation of bacterial colonies on the surface of the belts. This allows us to present a Declaration of Compliance to all our customers, to prove all our materials are safe to be in contact with foodstuffs.” This can only mean good news for the food production industry where food and hygiene safety is crucial.
