Finland’s Fazer set for key TFWA retail showcase

Finland’s Fazer group is set for a significant showcase at this year’s TFWA Cannes, celebrating latest developments across the travel retail sector, writes Neill Barston.
The event, taking place from September 27 to October 1, 2026, blends major brands, consumer-driven innovations and inspiring gifting concepts, and regularly features leading confectionery businesses, especially within the premium market segment.
Notably, Geisha, Fazer’s most international chocolate brand, enters a new chapter with its Share a Dream concept, which will be proudly on display at the international event.
Fazer’s portfolio responds to travellers’ growing desire for experiences, emotional connections and everyday indulgence.
This year, Fazer celebrates 135 years of creating meaningful taste experiences that have delighted generations of consumers. Today, the company is Finland’s leading producer of chocolate, confectionery and biscuits as well and bakery and lifestyle food products. While production remains firmly rooted in Finland, its lines are now present in around 40 nations.
As the company stated, international growth is a key strategic priority for Fazer, and Travel Retail plays an important role in introducing the company’s iconic brands to consumers across the globe. To support its growth ambitions, Fazer continues to invest in its confectionery business.
In 2026, the firm strengthened its position in the Nordic market through the acquisition of the Swedish candy manufacturer Aroma. At the same time, construction of its new ultra-modern chocolate factory in Lahti, Finland, is progressing according to plan, with operations scheduled to begin in 2028.
Kari Kuikka, Director, Travel Retail at Fazer., commented: “As Fazer celebrates 135 years of innovation and craftsmanship, we are also building the foundation for our next chapter of growth. The acquisition of Aroma reinforces our presence in the Nordic confectionery market, while the new chocolate factory in Lahti will create new opportunities for innovation, exports and international expansion.
“Our brands, such as Dumle, are also a vital part of the Swedish candy phenomenon. Together, these investments strengthen our competitiveness and bring Fazer’s beloved brands to even more consumers around the world,”
