A significant breakthrough has been achieved by Wholebake healthy snack business, as it ends the year in Christmas celebration of gaining critical BRC AA grade status across its sites, reports Neill Barston.

The company has a newly-opened Wrexham facility, which earned the top attainment for the first time, which the firm hailed as a key step forward for its overall operations.

As the business noted, it marks the  ninth consecutive year that Wholebake has secured the highest possible BRC rating, an internationally recognised standard assessing food safety, quality, hygiene, traceability, and operational excellence.

Auditors praised the company’s strong team culture, transparency, robust Food Defence processes, and the quality of supporting evidence.

Wholebake’s Quality and Hygiene Manager, Zaneta Piechota, and Quality and Hygiene Supervisor, Ana Canas, received special commendation for their expertise and thorough preparation.

The company also maintains annual certifications including the Gluten Free Certification Program (GFCP) and FSMA module, supporting both domestic and international competitiveness.

In May 2025, Wholebake also renewed its B Corp certification, improving its environmental impact and community scores through ongoing sustainability initiatives. This reinforces the company’s commitment to responsible manufacturing with a positive impact on people and the planet.

Tanya Mortimer, Head of Technical, ESH & Sustainability, commented: “Achieving BRC AA grades across all three sites, including our newest Wrexham facility, reflects the exceptional work of our entire team. Maintaining AA grades for nine years is something we’re extremely proud of and this year’s results reinforce the strength of our culture, our standards and our dedication to continuous improvement.

“Our renewed B Corp certification is equally important to us as we continue to embed sustainability into every area of the business. Together, these achievements demonstrate Wholebake’s commitment to leadership in quality, responsibility and long-term value for our customers.”

These latest accreditations support Wholebake’s mission to be the UK’s most capable and flexible bar manufacturer, underpinned by market-leading food safety standards, a strong sustainability focus and the capacity to support innovation across multiple bar formats and ingredients.
