Jessica Runkel takes on major WDS managing director role

A significant management move has been unveiled by Winkler und Dünnebier Süßwarenmaschinen GmbH (WDS), as Jessica Runkel has taken up the reins as managing director from her father Rainer, writes Neill Barston.

Jessica has been part of the management team since 2021, and has gained considerable sector knowledge, and will have additional support from her sister Vanessa, and long-serving technical director Carsten Butz.

In the wake of Rainer Runkel’s decision to retire at the end of last month, the company’s new director offered thanks to his former leadership and backing with her own career with the family-owned business, which is now in third generation hands.

“I have worked closely with my father over the past few years and have benefited enormously from his experience,” says Jessica Runkel. “I am delighted to continue leading the company together with our experienced team. Our focus will be on preserving what has proven successful while simultaneously setting new standards to further develop WDS for the future.”

The company was originally founded by Oswald Runkel with courage and pioneering spirit, and further developed by Rainer with passion and perseverance, will now be carried on by the next generation. Rainer Runkel will remain with the company in an advisory capacity.

WDS will continue to be a reliable partner for its customers – characterized by quality, technological expertise, and a corporate culture based on continuity, trust, and family values.

The business most recently exhibited at this year’s Gulfood Manufacturing event in Dubai which concluded this week, and it is also anticipated to be participating with a showcase at Interpack next May.
