First Lady Melania Trump offered a preview of today’s family Easter Egg Roll activities at the White House, which featured a key contribution from the National Confectioners Association in supplying candy for the event, writes Neill Barston.
This year’s focus was upon enabling its invited guests from across the country to enjoy a day of fun, learning, and memorable social moments that have founded the core of seasonal celebrations at the famous political US landmark property in Washington DC since the 1870s.
The egg roll and its associated hunt feature real, small and medium-sized eggs donated by US farmers, and also featured a number of additional activities organised by the the White House Historical Association.
Confectionery brands playing their part in confectionery supplies on the day included key manufacturers including Haribo, Welch’s and Perfetti Van Melle’s Airheads series.
According to the White House’s history books, the tradition of egg rolling had grown so popular that President Ulysses S.Grant went as far as signing a bill banning of rolling the seemingly innocuous activity on Capitol grounds, due to concerns over potential damage to its well maintained environment and lawns.
The event has continued to prove an iconic Easter showcase, and the NCA has been pleased to play its part in the celebrations, which are particularly notable this year in leading up to a national celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US.
As the White House explained, the America250 initiative—featured on the South Lawn, has been designed to offer a piece of living history to children and family in signing a mini-Declaration of Independence. Other activities will include dressing up as Founding Fathers, and enjoy an activity book, George the Star: An America250 Story.
Guests also had the chance to try their hand at experiencing a Military Card Writing Station, encouraging children to send messages of gratitude to American Troops, Be Best Hopscotch, for the most-energetic, young guests, and the Space Exploration Experience, courtesy of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Speaking on its contribution, working with leading manufacturers in supplying candy in support of the event, Carly Schildhaus, of the National Confectioners Association, commented: “We’re proud to partner with the White House on the 2025 Easter Egg Roll and provide guests with a curated selection of classic American treats made by chocolate and candy companies. Chocolate and candy enhance special moments like Easter, and we are pleased to share these fun and unique confectionery products in support of this timeless tradition.”
