Mars Wrigley has offered fans of the classic Twix brand a regional first in delivering a healthier option version of the much-cherished chocolate line, writes Neill Barston.
The limited edition Wafer Rolls variant is being made available through Coles supermarkets, and has set its stall out as offering an enjoyable indulgent treat that has been bestowed with reduced calories.
This year has been a particularly notable one for the company, after it has launched a number of other product initiatives including Skittles Cloudz, M&M’s Cookie Dough and Snickers Brownie to name a few, as it seeks to engage particularly with younger health conscious consumers who are seeking a classic treat in a lighter form.
Twix has remained a flagship chocolate brand for markets around the world, with its key two finger variety (below) having received many new variants over the years, including the recently launched cooking dough option showcased at the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Indianapolis, US.
Twix Portfolio director, Bianca Werkmeister said: “While consumers are actively seeking out more permissible treats, flavour and texture remain the number one component when looking to satisfy a craving.
“Our new Twix Wafer Rolls hit the mark on all levels featuring the much-loved Twix flavour that the brand is iconic for, combined with the new crispy wafer which gives new textural experience while easting, alongside a lighter formula at 114 calories per serving, creating more permissibility for consumers.
“We are really proud to be launching this product to market and we are excited to hear the response from Twix fans and chocolate lovers alike.”
