Love is in the air for UK manufacturer Swizzels

UK confectionery manufacturer Swizzels, makers of classic Valentine’s Day gift sweets, Love Hearts, has received a recent boost with an increase in its production capabilities at its New Mills site in Derbyshire, UK.

The company has continued its traditional annual sales spike for its renowned brand that has helped couples play cupid for the past 64 years thanks to the confectionery’s romantic messages.

As the business explained, part of its expansion has seen a growth in Swizzels’ relationship with Coventry, UK-based Pooling Partners, an integrated full service pooler and producer of pallets, which has witnessed a 10% increase in volumes from the confectionery giant in the last 12 months.

Pooling Partners, which has moved hundreds of thousands of pallets for Swizzels since the relationship began, utilises its ‘One Way Trip’ solution which streamlines the process by collecting the empty pallets from end customers, including all of the major multiple retailers cash and carry businesses and smaller confectioners – repairing them, if necessary, and seamlessly reintroducing them back into the cycle. This process reportedly guarantees the constant flow and integrity of the pallets as the business builds up to peaks, including Valentine’s Day.

Nigel Wanford, supply chain manager for Swizzels, said: “We have invested heavily in the production facility in the last couple of years and Pooling Partners has worked with us step by step as part of the choreographed movement of products which has witnessed an increase in volumes.

“We work well as a team as we are both focused upon quality and service. We need to be assured 24/7 that the pallets are in the best condition and, critically, there when we need them, as our requirement increases in line with seasonal spikes, such as Valentine’s Day.”
