Trade mission to Thailand

Senior executives from Taura Natural Ingredients have accompanied New Zealand’s Prime Minister, John Key, on a high profile trade mission to Thailand.

Based in Mount Maunganui, Taura is one of the world’s leading suppliers of real fruit products. It is among 23 New Zealand companies chosen to participate in the Prime Ministerial visit, organised to strengthen commercial ties between New Zealand and Thailand.

During the trip, the Prime Minister was present at the signing of an agreement to launch a new bagged snack product for the Thai market – Wel-B Fruit Bites – which has been produced by local company Joe-Ry Family using Taura’s URC (ultra rapid concentration) Mixed Berry fruit flakes. The new snacks will be launched in 7-Eleven convenience stores across Thailand.

The visit to Thailand has been organised by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, which facilitated initial contact between Taura and Joe-Ry Family.

Peter Tinholt, general manager for Asia-Pacific at Taura, says: “We’re delighted to be on this trade mission and proud to represent New Zealand’s food industry alongside Prime Minister John Key. We appreciate his support for New Zealand business in South East Asia and look forward to building on our successful dealings with Joe-Ry Family to bring the benefits of URC fruit to more markets in this important region.”

Wel-B is a well-established brand of fruit snacks available in supermarkets and convenience stores across Thailand. Joe-Ry Family is launching Wel-B Fruit Bites to offer consumers a healthier and convenient alternative to gelatin-based sugar confectionery that doesn’t compromise on flavour and mouthfeel.
