Plans for our World Confectionery Conference 2026 edition have taken a notable step forward, as Tobias Bachmüller, president of the Caobisco European confectionery trade organisation, becomes our first keynote speaker, reports Neill Barston.

The vastly experienced senior executive, who is also a managing shareholder of Germany’s Katjes group, represents the region’s core industry body that has been a founding supporter of our event.

Registration is now open for the 2026 edition of the World Confectionery Conference, which is being hosted at The View, in central London, with early bird rates available for attending, speaking and exhibiting, which can be done via the following link to our dedicated conference website, which offers key updates on our event.

As Confectionery Production reported from Brussels last week, Tobias offered a note of optimism that significant legislation making its way through the European Parliament in the form of EUDR deforestation regulations, and a key trade agreement with South America (Mercosur), will find resolution, despite considerable tests over their implementation and approval. (see our next magazine for a full report on this).

Speaking to our title about the prospects of making his personal debut on at our event, Tobias welcomed the opportunity to discuss the work of Caobisco’s work supporting the industry at a time of significant regulatory change that could prove hugely influential for the sector.

He said: “I’m looking forward to being at the World Confectionery Conference, which will also give me chance to see my daughter, who is there in London. Our company, Katjes, also has a big business in the UK with ‘Percy Pig,’ as well Candy Kittens, so there are many reasons to be there,” enthused the president, who acknowledged the importance of physical events such as our conference was vital for furthering discussion on major issues facing the sector.

As Caobisco noted previously to our title, his appointment leading the organisation brings considerable industry leadership. He has previously served in the post as president between 2012-2014, and vice president during three terms (2010–2012, 2014–2016, 2024- 2025).

In addition, he has also been a longstanding member of the Executive Board of BDSI (Bundesverband der Deutschen Süsswarenindustrie e.V.) since 2001.
