Cadbury’s Roses in eco packaging move
This Christmas, as an experiment, the famous tin of Cadbury’s Roses will be replaced with recycled cardboard boxes.
The company says tins are becoming more expensive because of the rising cost of steel, but added emphasised that the cardboard boxes will currently be sold in the UK retailer Tesco and will only be rolled out elsewhere only if customers take to the new containers.
The change is motivated by environmental issues and replacing tins with 100% sustainably sourced cardboard would save 201 tonnes of steel a year and cut packaging by 45% per pack, according to a company statement.
The cylindrical tin will be replaced by a cardboard cuboid, in the signature blue and red colours, emblazoned with the Roses logo.
