Packing specialist targets growth
Contract packaging specialist, SGL Co-packing, has made a strategic decision to grow its contract packing/manufacturing activities in the UK. Until now focused exclusively on the cereals, petcare, confectionery and other foods sectors, the company will now also cover pharmaceuticals, gifts and toys, and all dry food categories. In a bid to support this move, the company has made three new senior management appointments and introduced a new logo.
Andrew Palmer joins SGL Co-packing’s parent company, Keswick Enterprises, as chairman of SGL Co-packing. Palmer has led the logistics services provider Suttons Group since 2005, and has domestic and international business experience.
In addition, David Hogg joins as head of Technical Support functions as SGL. Previously Hogg has experience in a range of areas of food manufacture and packaging and has held senior management positions at Northern Foods, Premier Foods and Dairy Crest.
Lastly, Frank McMahon has been appointed as Sales Manager. He has previously worked in the pharmaceuticals, grocery, gift and other non-food consumer product and B2B sectors.
Together with Palmer they will support the existing divisional management team led by Margaret Bell, divisional general manager.
John Harvey CBE, Executive Chairman of The Keswick Enterprises Group, says, “I warmly welcome Andrew, David and Frank into The Keswick Enterprises Group. Their appointments signify our strategic decision to expand our contract packing and manufacturing activities – not just in the UK, but ultimately across other parts of Europe as well. Later in the year, for example, we intend to introduce contract packing into the portfolio of logistics support services provided by our Tibbett Logistics subsidiary in Romania. After that it may also be added to the services of our joint venture in Poland – Keswick Vector SCM Polska.
“I am also pleased to announce that we have now brought the visual identity of SGL Co-packing into line with other Group subsidiary companies.”
