All Ferrero cocoa independently verified

17 April 2012 – Ferrero aims to achieve independent and credible third-party verification of the sourcing of all of its cocoa by 2020. This verification will aim to ensure, among other issues, that trafficking, the worst forms of child labour and forced adult labour, will be eradicated from the plantations that Ferrero source its cocoa from.

All Ferrero projects aim to create a growing, sustainable supply chain improving social, economic and environmental conditions while preventing and combating the worst form of child labour. Empowering farmers and improving their living conditions are key elements for Ferrero’s projects. All projects will be audited by independent third parties, which are accredited verifying bodies.

Ferrero plans to independently verify the source of cocoa through organizations such as UTZ Certified, Rainforest Alliance, Certification Capacity Enhancement, Source Trust, and others, as follows:

• 20% by 2011/2013
• 40% by 2013/2015
• 60% by 2015/2017
• 80% by 2017/2019
• 100% by 2020
