Ingredients group Tate & Lyle has unveiled a series of four timely new summer-inspired products targeting the confectionery and ice cream sector, reports Neill Barston.

The business used the recent IFT FIRST Conference in Chicago, US, held this month, to lift the lid on some of its latest sector innovations with fit with its healthier profile portfolio, offering sugar reduction, fibre fortification, as well as maintaining vibrant taste profiles.

Among its standout offerings has been a tempting Piña Colada Dual Texture Gummy Lollipop confection. This featured  both full sugar and no sugar added formats. Formulated as an excellent source of fibre, this dual-layered gummy lollipop combines two distinct textures: a gelled pectin exterior with an aerated foamed texture interior, fused together for a multi-sensory experience, highlighting the capabilities of Genu Pectin and Genutine Carrageenan.

Furthermore, its Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Parfait promises indulgence meets innovation. It has plenty of consumer appeal with this globally inspired dessert, created with its custom solutions blend for a decadent mouthfeel. Designed for the clean label consumer with Nutrava Citrus Fibre, this ice cream parfait delivers indulgent mouthfeel through expert dairy formulation.
Finally, its Dip-n-Crunch Veggie Snackers with Dill Pickle Mousse offer a bold twist on  a classic crudité. Formulated with X-Pand-R, Promitor, Keltrol and Star-Dri applications to create satisfying crunch and creaminess, this aerated dip delivers a tangy dill pickle ranch flavour with a whipped, mousse-like consistency that elevates mouthfeel while preserving a rich, full-flavoured impact.

As the business noted, its recent acquisition of CP Kelco, with its extensive portfolio of pectin, specialty gums and other nature-based ingredients, has further boosted Tate & Lyle’s offerings.

At this year’s IFT FIRST, hosted by the Institute of Food Technologists, Tate & Lyle invites attendees to experience a brave new world of food and beverage formulation, one rooted in practicality but also in pushing the boundaries of what is possible to help meet global demand for healthier, tastier and more sustainable food and drink.

“This year’s show is especially exciting for us as we are truly showcasing the ‘power of and’ that is the result of combining forces with CP Kelco last year,” says Jessica Wilford, vice president, category development, Americas. “At IFT, we will showcase how our combined ingredient portfolios, deep technical expertise, and scientific capabilities can help our customers solve formulation challenges in even more ways than before.”
