Birds Bakery unveils Family Sundays promotion amid business expansion

UK-based bakery business, Birds, has revealed a key consumer promotion in seeking to cement its place as a trusted favourite in introducing Family Sundays, dedicated to bringing loved ones together over fine food and sweet treats, writes Neill Barston.
The company, which began in 1919, recently announced expansion of its businesses in the Midlands, with three new stores and refurbishment of its existing portfolio of nine sites in England.
As part of its latest initiative, the company will be giving away a free hot sausage roll with every hot drink purchase, every Sunday for the next five weeks. The bakery’s aim is to encourage families to make Sundays special by heading out together and enjoying a well-earned treat.
Family and tradition have always been at the heart of Birds Bakery, making Sundays the perfect time to bring people together. With this in mind, Birds hopes to create a new tradition for local communities; one that gives customers an extra reason to pop in and make the most of their weekend.
A recent Facebook poll by Birds Bakery revealed how people like to spend their Sundays: 33% of customers spend their Sundays going for a walk in the park or countryside, Roughly 1 in 3 customers use Sundays to enjoy quality time with family and friends, and 26% opt for a relaxed morning with fresh pastries and coffee.
As well as hot sausage rolls, Birds has a selection of family favourites including gingerbread, chocolate lollies, and kids’ cobs, ideal for a post-park walk pick-me-up or a cosy Sunday brunch. Jamie Bird, Joint Managing Director at Birds Bakery, said: “We’ve always believed that great food brings people together. Sundays are about slowing down, enjoying time with loved ones, and treating yourself. As a family bakery, we are going all in on our new ‘Family Sundays’, where we want to help many across the East Midlands make new traditions together.”
