Eco-friendly designs take centre stage for Happi’s oat milk chocolate Easter series

Vegan-friendly oat milk chocolate brand, Happi, has stepped up its efforts to be environmentally friendly with the designs of its latest range of Easter confectionery, writes Neill Barston.
As the company explained, traditional Easter eggs are not considered the most sustainable product choice given the additional levels of packaging required – which reportedly generate an additional 8,000 tonnes of waste each Spring.
In response, Happi has moved to create a new series of bars that feature less wrapping than traditional egg counterparts, and are being made available in plain milk, salted honeycomb and white raspberry varieties.
From an original concept in 2020, co-founder Gavin Cox and his team went into production at the start of the following year, and has seen its presence grow within the UK. Significantly, the company has prided itself on high ethical sourcing standards through working with slave and child labour free cocoa sources in Colombia, from Luker Chocolate. The company has used single source 47% cacao and oat milk for its product ranges.
As its founders noted on the company’s creation, as parents to young children themselves, they wanted to be clear that they had gone the extra mile to ensure that their products have been supplied free of any such issues that continue to cast a shadow over the wider sector’s supply chains.
Furthermore, as the company noted, its new bars are an excellent alternative for those looking for great-tasting, plant-based chocolate this Easter. They also boast 35% less sugar than other mass market brands. The new series is available at £6.49 for a 140g from Waitrose and trade sources this month.
Gavin Cox, Founder of the brand commented: “We are really excited to launch our new Easter Egg bars, as we know there is demand for great quality and eco-friendly choices at this time of year,” says
“The new Easter Egg bars are packaged in 100% recyclable materials and create much less waste than standard eggs,” continues Gavin. “We are really proud of the fact that we will be able to help reduce waste this Easter, as well as deliver the same great-tasting, rich and creamy chocolate that we are known for.”
