Confectionery fans around the globe urged to join World Nutella Day celebrations

Ferrero is encouraging confectionery fans around the globe to engage with their love of treats, as the company marks this year’s World Nutella day with a special campaign, writes Neill Barston.
Taking place today, February, the Italian-founded business has unveiled a series of activities, events and partnerships that seek to build on the company’s key hazelnut spread’s 60th anniversary celebrations last year.
Since its first inception in 2007, the World Nutella Day has brought admirers of the brand together in their love of the classic product, which has recently gained a new addition in the form of a new vegan variety that the business has reported as gaining strong consumer acceptance.
As the company explained its key events for this year’s day include creating the new ‘Sound of Nutella’ developed in collaboration with Massive Music, a creative music agency. According to the business, this distinctive soundtrack reflects the brand’s values of positivity and togetherness, and the sound of one of its signature ingredients: hazelnuts.
Notably, to form the soundtrack, the popular nuts were dropped on a drum kit, tossed them at guitars, shook them in aNutella jar and poured them onto a piano. The end result? A lighthearted, fun and infectious track – which visitors to the last edition of the World Confectionery Conference were given a sneak preview of last autumn (below).

Among the company’s other activities for World Nutella day include the Maxxi Museum in Rome, which is presently housing a Nutella exhibition, celebrating its sixty years in industry, which is open until April 2025.
There is also a “ New Nutella World” Book Launch in the form of Italian journalist and food writer Gigi Padovani, who has just released a new edition of his book, offering an in-depth look at the journey of Nutella to a beloved global power brand and its celebration in popular culture.
Through captivating stories and insights, readers will discover the history of Nutella and its inspirational evolution over six decades. This literary tribute is a must-read for fans and food enthusiasts alike, celebrating the cultural legacy and enduring appeal of Nutella.

This love and passion even sparked the creation of World Nutella® Day in 2007. When Sara Rosso first invented World Nutella Day, Nutella was enjoyed as a hazelnut and cocoa spread only.
